Our current versions of E-Syst and ASSIST 2K, are both written in the BASIS language. This is an advanced form of a graphical business basic. The BASIS environment allows our clients to be platform independent, without changing the software. Our clients can choose the operating system that gives them the best ROI. Linux, for instance, has no user or annual fees. Red Hat Linux is now pre-installed by Dell.

The BASIS language allows us to run client server, ODBC / SQL interfaces, and supports industry standard report writers like General and Crystal Reports. It’s the foundation of thousands of mission-critical systems with more than 1.7 million end users in industries as varied as banking to manufacturing to health care. This type of language is sold by four major companies (BASIS, Providex, MAI Basic Four and Thoroughbred). Open Systems Accounting Software (OSAS) and Add On (ADD+ON) software are also written in the BASIS languages. SSI's FACTS, MAS 90, MAS 200 and 5M (Five-M) are written in Providex.

These languages have continued to evolve since the mid 70's and there is a world wide base of professionals that use it daily. We supply the source code, at no additional charge, so you can have any programmer you want to support you. They exist worldwide.

BBJ(r) is the next generation of basic from BASIS. It is written in Java and allows Java objects to be imbedded into our application software. These new tools give us more flexibility to offer and deploy more solutions to you. Java is the dominant platform independent language today. Most of the web is Java or Javascript.

One of your decisions should be, do you want a Microsoft only product or a platform independent product (AIX, Unix, Linux in addition to Windows) like E-Syst or ASSIST 2K with BASIS.

RLA also continues to support MAI Systems Openbasic version of ASSIST. The 6.0 version of ASSIST has many of the same feature as the current version, but only has a character user interface. This version works on the MAI Basic Four Openbasic platform. It is one of the most current packages still available on the MAI Basic 4 system.
